This is NOT worth the price difference between G540.
In fact the G850/840 is a better buy.
Hyperthreading will make it bench a little bit higher. but that doesn't matter to these low end CPUs...

I use this in my HTPC and it's great - low power and runs everything just fine. I bought it a year ago at a much higher price. Not sure if waiting for the Ivy Bridge i3's are a better idea.

I know power consumption wise they are similar but hyperthreading does kick it up a notch and better integrated graphics.

G530 has CPU utilization of ~25% running a high bitrate 1080p MKV and ~60% utilization running Netflix HD silverlight.
Hell, my T6600 C2D laptop with G45 doesn't have any issues running 1080p high...

This is a "T" chip which means lower TDP, but also lower clock (2.5GHz as opposed to 3.1GHz of regular i3-2100). I remember reading some articles about these i3 "T" CPUs not really that good...

hyperthreading give each "physical-core" a virtual core. In VERY specific types of tasks, this allows recovery of "more" processing in otherwise wasted cycles as the CPU runs.
