You wont win at this game unless youre skilled regardless of what you have equipped. The weapons you can buy can also be earned for free and even so, theres nothing gamebreaking about it either.

It says minimum recommended is an 8800 GT, though thats a 5 year old card. Im thinking even on minimum hardware specs, it would run decent enough. Doesnt seem like an extremely demanding game.

T2 couldn't touch Tribes imo, but since only about 10 people still play Tribes, T:A is probably the most fun multiplayer out right now.
