The Vertex 4 crushes the 830. Don't get caught up in max performance numbers. It's all about sustained performance and access times. My MBP cold boots in under 10 seconds because of the low latency.

the 830 is for the regular user. lots of small files mostly. the vertex 4 is for people who do lots of heavy processing. especially of large data sets. you can't return the 830 to newegg anyways....
