I am pretty sure any modern OS with dell xps 8100 would recognize 3TB hard drive. You just can't boot from it without the UEFI extension in the bios. There shouldn't be a problem using the 3TB drive...

does anyone know of a decently priced USB 2.0/3.0 enclosure that would support 3TB internal HD? If the brand of the HD makes a difference, I bought a 3TB Hitachi HD (and now regretting getting it)...

Yeah.. i have the latest BIOS. Also, if you looked at the 2nd to the last post on that site, the problem seems to be with DELL..
