Man I wish that was the case. But unfortunately it is not. You must format the HD in another computer that recognizes 3TB in BIOS. XPS 8100 BIOS only sees 746GB. I've been at this for a couple of...

I am pretty sure any modern OS with dell xps 8100 would recognize 3TB hard drive. You just can't boot from it without the UEFI extension in the bios. There shouldn't be a problem using the 3TB drive...

does anyone know of a decently priced USB 2.0/3.0 enclosure that would support 3TB internal HD? If the brand of the HD makes a difference, I bought a 3TB Hitachi HD (and now regretting getting it)...

I would rather a SATA PCIE card than an external. It will be way faster that way.
