No armrests? Crazy! Cars also annoy me if there is no middle armrest.

I wonder if the mouse is really the problem. I think position of your hands and arms has more to do than what they are touching. Can you try adjusting things, sitting on a pillow etc to test out...

Either get a moveable ball mouse or a trackpad type device, like the apple one.

OP, do you have an ergonomic desk/chair combination? If not you should definitely look into it. Also, have you read up on proper posture while working and taking regular breaks, stretching, etc?
