They were RCA, now they are On Corp. Curtis could also be a parent company. Nice deal. Bad speakers - get surround sound or a sound bar (which offsets the savings).

Contrast ratio is pretty much an irrelevant spec to compare to other tv's, since they do not all use the same standard for testing.
