I dont mind getting this but I read that it doesnt work well with compress file like zip and I will use this mainly for recording shows using the Window Media Center.

Not sure if this was a reference to pron, but ok! The delayed start time on your recording shouldn't be attributed to the HDD/SSD, however. It would be in regards to the program itself starting...

Sorry, not sure. I don't record, watch or even own a TV but have other large media files :-) It was simply a comment regarding drive size and economics. But I doubt it takes more than a few seconds...

For recording TV you might be better off with a multi Terabyte slow spinning mechanical drive. Those are 10x larger and also quiet and energy saving. I use this here to replace my old 120GB SATA 2...
