Doing just a "restore" won't help...because you're basically just wiping your data and installing the same thing back again. What you need to do (when the time comes) is to do a fresh installation....

We use that same model here too, lasting us 12 to 18 months each (we have a lot of traffic) and of the 4 or 5 we've had, none of them had any connectivity issues with any type of device.

You can also try changing wireless channels - or if it's set to auto, pick a single channel. Sometimes this will help a connection issue.

I would change it to WPA2-AES since wpa is easily cracked.
It could be the router, if it happens again I would try rebooting the router and see if the ipad picks it up on its own, I have the same...

What I usually recommend first is
Settings-->General-->Reset-->Reset Network Settings.
If that doesn't work, next would be reinstalling the iOS (remember to do a backup!)

Based on this new info, I suggest taking screenshots of the times when the iPad won't connect, so as to avoid a lengthy and frustrating battle convincing them that yours qualifies for exchange....

I would say it's time to do a full factory restore, and if the problem persists, then it's time to return it. It would be a good idea to document its failures, in case you land up trying to return it.

Also depends on the techs at the Genius Bar ;) The ones at my Apple store, don't ask questions if it's a hardware issue, they just just swap it out.

Have you tried doing a full reboot when it happens?
If you do, and the wifi hooks right back up after the bootup, instead of lasting the 30 minutes like it's been doing, that would insinuate to me...

If your router is the problem than all the wireless devices in the house should have problems. When you reset the router, make sure you still have your settings in place. Like people said earlier...
