the price got me all excited, but after reading the specs on this thing, it is awfully slow for an SSD. up to 250 MB/s read and 155 MB/s write per the description. meanwhile other SSDs listed here,...

Sata II is not so good for persons easily entertained with a stop watch habitually rebooting their PCs, lol. Seriously though, for those of us with Sata II boards, this SSD might be a decent...

I'm mostly worried about the reliability of this drive. The Vertex Plus (not R2) had downright putrid reviews on Newegg. 200+ reviews, and the vast, vast majority are 1-egg. So what's changed...

I can't decide how many to buy. I have an older OCZ 60gb with a Sandforce controller and it has been perfect, but it's too small. I have 3 flash drives and an SD card hanging out of my laptop to get...

This is my first purchase with 1saleaday. Still not shipped out. Is this normal? I guess I'm spoiled with Amazon Prime.

1saleaday is a terrible company. They have sold "new" items that were actually refurbished and refused to give refunds. Buyer beware.

so its SATA II same speed as a regular 7200rpm HDD? just wondering why ppl dislike Sata II so much
Post #52057088 added 07-31-2012 12:18 AM by pdp76 in Archived Deals
Mainly because SATA3 is the standard now and SATA3 has a maximum transfer rate twice as fast as SATA2. Realistically though, the majority of the use cases of drives in a computer will never even...

Exactly, if anything this is possibly one of the best upgrades you can do to an older computer. This is temping, might get one for my quad core, guess I have 22 hours to think about it.

You're correct. I've tested an 830 in Sata II vs Sata III mode for OS bootup, program launch, other typical stuff on a Sandy Bridge machine, and I can't measure the difference above run-to-tun noise.

Cool, I'll take a look at those. Thanks for the info. Do you have a recommendation on a model that or line of SSD's that are extremely reliable?
Post #52058032 added 07-31-2012 2:36 AM by GhostShaDoW in Archived Deals
Does that mean the past issues with SSD's (sandforce controller issues, etc) have been remedied and they are now good to go in terms of reliability?

Go with either Samsung or Intel for reliability especially if used for work. They can be had as low as $85. I am sure most of folks who buy OCZ products are actually happy with their products....

I don't think the SSD technology is fully ripe(?) yet. Also, what many people overlook is the lifespan of SS D which is much shorter than HDD. SSD lasts about 2 to 4 years whereas HDD usually lasts...

Keep your logic out of this. Forums are for gripes, not common sense. You asked, so I'll answer. I ain't real good at math or nuthin, but 5 years is about 43824 hours (or 43848 hours if you...

You're assuming Earth years. The logic holds based on an Uranus year. Seriously though, I'm with you. 1,000,000 hours is over 100 years. If data shows 2.5 to 5 year failure rates, then...
