Before I put on unlimited data with at&t I used this. It's a decent app with TTS, can download and store maps from the states you use often, though at times it would route me inefficiently or through...

Yeah, but it still needs a data connection for navigation. Their offline map function is decent, but very slow to download, and you have to select portions 50MB at a time

Pretty mixed reviews

Yes you are right each offline map is limited to around 80MB, but once you have offline Navigation itself do not use any data connection

How does this one compare to Sygic?

. Even Google Nav can downloaded offline maps using maps app available in Android ICS. But what i saw is we can download 2 or 3 states due to size limitation.

In the event your phone is without a data connection, why not just get Navfree, for free in those situations? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navfree.android.OSM.USA If youre...

I cannot recommend Waze. If you don't live in a very dense area with a lot of users, the whole crowdsourced traffic will be useless to you. Beyond that, it makes wonky routing decisions from the...

Lots of people recommend Waze. If you live in a less populated area Waze is spotty at best. I have both Waze and Copilot (I even have Navigon) on my Android phone. Of the three, I prefer Copilot....

Is google nav able to function offline though? If so, how? I've only used it when I have a connection, but I(as well as overseas travelers and people with capped or no data) haven't figured out how...

I've used this on both an HTC Evo View tablet and an iPad 2. I perferred it over Sygic, personally.

Link Related: http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/27/google-maps-offline-android/ You are limited to a rather small area though. I'm in Chicago, and the maximum allowed size barely captures most* of...

It has a bug where it shows high usage in the battery stats on some devices, but its not actually consuming that much. I even froze the app (a feature on rooted devices where the app is still...

But this is iteration 1 for Apple! Remember Google's map implementation on Android way back when? Apple will succeed, give them some time. Honestly though, guys just get a dedicated GPS. They...

So let me get this right, $600 for a phone that has no reliable GPS built in?! Seriously though if you own an iphone this is about your best solution, waze is good but Copilot is better for the...

Unless you mean Rhode Island and Washington DC that's not exactly true. The size of each offline map is limited to 80mb or so. I've created maps for my metropolitan area, but it would take at least...
I have this and really like it - but I use it on an android tablet without data. It's nice that is has all hotels / restaurants etc already downloaded and the maps are updated quite frequently.

iOS6 comes out in September which will include turn by turn Nav for free! I say hold off. I guess the people who made copilot know this and offer a deal now.

Agree, Waze is a great app. This can be useful for people with no or lesser data plans as it has offline maps.
