Assuming that I am correct in saying that you have Elan-tech for your mouse program.... It is my understanding that the gestures aren't customizable. The actions are hard coded.

I suggest amputation, or if that seems a bit too drastic, perhaps scything off a few millimeters of palm flesh, might do the trick.... :woot::woot::woot:

Having no "pinch to zoom" adjustment possibilities with that ElanTech program is beyond stupid. Even if it didn't cause all the interference that it causes you, some folks would still want to turn it...

I feel for ya. Been there, done that. The solution is in getting back to the driver you had. If the manufacturer's website only has the most recent one that doesn't agree with you, then search...

Damn, I don't have the problem with my older laptop. Back when I had the original drivers (with the scaling that made the laptop virtually unusable) I did not have this problem because the drivers...

I just went though this myself. Sadly, all of the necessary settings are in the Synaptic Device Settings in Mouse Properties. From there you can tune the pad to ignore anything the size of your...

Naturally, as a repairman, I have had countless people come to me to have the computer repaired, thinking that the cursor jumped by itself. After taking the time necessary to prove to them that they...

Thanks, that stopped the scaling problem. However, now I have a new problem, the cursor jumps back when I accidentally touch the pad while typing.

Agreed. That's what I would do too. I'd search for a Synaptics driver until I found one, assuming it exists.

If you have a factory restore partition and the touchpad problem is driving you nuts enough to be willing to do your OS over again, that's the way to be sure to get that original driver back....

One would think so, but it sure appears to be that way. Unless you get really lucky and find some other touchpad driver/program like Synaptics, that works on your machine then either you're stuck...

Absolutely. You uninstall the present driver, reboot and it should be replaced by the standard generic driver.

I find it impossible to believe that the people who put this laptop together did not think that this was a problem. Lazy or moronic bastards just shipped it anyways.
