I paid extra for an item which made in Japan, still, it doesn't last longer than a China made. May be that item was made in China but the label said made in Japan. Who knows what Chinese factories...

There are Zojirushi models made in Japan. They tend to cost $250 and up. I have one and it is great -- worth every penny (or dollar.) $90 is basically pretty cheap -- especially in Japan....
