I have both LR and Picasa. I think LR has a much steeper learning curve, because it does so much more. there are nice thingsa bout Picasa (scrolling throughall images works well, love face tagging)....

I tried LR4.1 and found it to be bulky, slow and cumbersome. (quad core q6600/4GB) For Non-Pros FastStone Image viewer is free and a lot easier to use for quick edits.
