Your insurance company will keep you informed on what is happening. You don't need to try to contact him, get his info, engage with him at all (and you probably shouldn't at this point).

Agreed. I think you should get the insurance information (from him if possible) otherwise get it from the police report. Tell them you are letting the insurance handle the claim.
