I have the 1gb sapphire model of this card, never had any problems running things on high settings. Planning to grab a 7950 whenever a decent deal comes along on one for the dx11 and power savings...

As someone that's been running a Sapphire 4870 1gb for a few years now I can say it's held up for my needs quite well. As others have said it is a heat machine though and I have mine in a...

I actually just upgraded from this exact card a few weeks ago. Stupid thing ran ridiculously hot (52c idle, lol), but it played every game I threw at it, but obviously not at max settings. Lasted me...

But just think about our fellow Canadians - you could crossfire these during the colder months and substitute them for a space heater. :lmao: But if I had just had my main GPU die, or was stuck...

Old as dirt, no HDMI, power hungry, and no DX 11 support... ..but one of the most powerful cards ever made for cheap, with no rebates. I've never felt so conflicted before. :lmao: +1 for subby....

Oos:( I'm kind of relieved though, since it was an awesome price and I would have bought it. I once used a 4870x2 which overheated and sounded like a leaf blower.

4870x2 is probably the worst card ever made, who in their right mind would take two 4870 GPUs that already run hot as hell and place them on the same PCB? I bought 3 visiontek 4870x2 cards and ALL...

A killer deal. Erase the model number, erase the perceptions about age. You can not get that performance from any card today for $40, period. But it needs at least 1 gig of memory to support the...

no hdmi kills it for me. I have the saphire 4850 w/hdmi in an old school Cooler Master Centurion case. This 4870 would be a real tight fit.

Agreed, my cousin has similar cards crossfired, the 4850s and his sweating in his computer room. I think these are great cards, but they run very hot.

so memory size is more important than band width, am i understanding right? I thought with moderate memory size (512mb to 2gb), increased band width will increase performance a lot, so does the...

No, memory size is mostly just important if you're gaming at very high resolutions and AA levels, in which case the video buffers take up a lot of memory and can impact performance. Most games are...

More like 2008/2009. DX11 has been out for years and support started with the 5000 series. Thats when I upgraded.

This 9600 GSO adds HDMI, so if 3D power and quiet fans are not important, get this for $14.99 AR. http://www.globalcomputer.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=747628&csid=_21

Jeez, I think I sold my card just like this on eBay a few months ago for more money than this when I upgraded to a 6950. It was an awesome card when I first built the machine, though.
