I had the SII and sold it off to get a Galaxy Nexus, its worth every penny with direct updates from google. The Note is a pretty big phone (almost a mini tablet) and it will not be getting updates...

That is true with all Androids. T-Mobile doesn't add as much bloatware/spyware as AT&T so should be little better.
