Make sure that you do a 30/30/30 reset after flashing. I have mine running tomato after dd-wrt flash and 30/30/30 reset and its been solid for about 3 weeks now.

Might be a little off topic but is there a way to connect two routers into one cable modem. In other words, is there such a thing as a splitter to split one ethernet plug into two? I was thinking...

Is this simultaneous dual band?
Well ... I was hoping to make one ssid/router for guests so that whatever they surf and catch on their pc, doesn't compromise my own/private network. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm new at this...

If you flash this router to DD-WRT, you can use these instructions to setup a guest network that is separate from your private network. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Multiple_WLANs...

Nice unit for the price. You can add external antennas with the 7dBi Mod Kit available on eBay. Looks cool and I am getting better coverage with the externals attached.

Ordered, thanks! I have a low-end TRENDnet TEW-432BRP that works reasonably well, but I'd like to load DD-WRT and really make use of my home network since we're all but wireless at this point.

FWIW I recently bought this and compared a speed test to my old Netgear WNR2000. Speed test shows a bump of 2Mbps when using 5GHz vs. my old router's 2.4GHz. I'm pleased already although the thought...

I never really compared but I've never had a problem with any router covering my whole apartment. It'd be nice to have the strongest signal possible in all rooms and on the porch.

I've been using Toastman builds on my last 2 routers which have been great. However, I noticed that Shibby's builds have NFS server builtin. Historically, I've had poor performance when doing file...

Does Shibby disable DHCP after flash? Toastman disable DHCP and may confuse new user if this "feature" is overlooked.

Have you tried the Shibby versions?
Post #52375614 added 08-10-2012 3:36 PM by screenname in Archived Deals
No. The reason I use toastman version is because I have 2 Netgear 3500 that have toastman on them and they have been very stable. The same firmware on the Belkin is another story. The connection keeps...

Which is easier to use for a noob, shibby or toastman?
Post #52377018 added 08-10-2012 5:00 PM by Engineer in Archived Deals
I would say about the same. I think Shibby has more features at this point, but that's not something a "noob" would necessarily need. Again, I don't think it makes a difference in which version you...

Why not connect one router to the modem and the 2nd router to the 1st router as an access point (i.e. WAN port not used)? You can then set each router to whatever SSID you wish.

It's about the same as other internal antenna routers. Similar coverage to my other Linksys WRT160N. It will be less than external antenna routers, but it's still enough to cover my 2600 sq ft...

This router has no external antenna connections. There are kits (cheap on eBay) that you can install. Require a little modification to the unit. Example
