Says who? Prove it. I've had Asus switches, routers, sound cards, motherboards, and TV cards and not had any better or worse luck with them than competitors.

I had great experience with ASUS. They can be a bit pricier, but the quality is really good. I have their motherboards, video cards, notebook and routers. The only thing about their routers is...

You are so right...they make great routers, but the firmware blows. I have had both those routers myself, and put tomato on them and never look back. Great products..

If you are replacing the second router with this switch then you may see an improvement in responsiveness with lower ping times (lower latency) but your throughput (download speed) most likely won't...

I second that...their RTN16 router is very highly touted, and I have ASus video cards switches and a notebook too...all work great.

1) I don't think I would be surprised. 2) Who said the switch was getting very hot? 3) Electronics run better and with higher efficiencies at lower temperatures. 4) Heat is transferred by 3...

Good deal on a $10 gigabit 5 port switch. And if anyone's wondering about asus network equipment, their RT-N56U router is one of the best SOHO routers available. Thumbs up.

Not sure about this model specifically, but I have the DX-1081 and it pulls less than 1 watt while on, even while transferring high speed gigabit files.

Hard to say for sure from what you wrote, but IMO unless the router's processor is hugely overwhelmed by switch lookups (which, given that it's probably being done from a dedicated processor, anyway,...

I used to like ASUS too unless they made it difficult to utilize the Warranty and after they handled the Prime tablet situtation. There quality is indeed good.

This finally made FP?? Wonder why it took so long. Plastic with holes would be better than metal without holes, only if there's decent airflow, and that's not always the case.

The Trendnet metal TEG-S50G would be about that size. But from the pictures of this version 2 Asus, it looks significantly bigger (relative to how much longer it is than the 5 ports on the back).
