This is a great drive. Far better than the Samsucks that have been on sale lately. The only thing that may be a disadvantage is limited burn speed options.

IDE drives work great. Although some MB's don't have IDE ports anymore. If you have a IDE port, I'd rather use it for the DVD drive too, and not tie up a SATA port that can be used for a HD.
