FWIW, I (and I think most people) haven't had problems with FoxFi on the GS2 under GB. I think the main problems people have had are with ICS. I've heard both sides under ICS so I've stuck with GB....

If you use other prepaid voice-only plan from TMO, you'll pay at least 10 cents/minute.
I think you should give the $30/month Walmart plan a try.
It has 5G data plan but 100 minutes talk time....
