Hi Roman, Can you tell us what problems you are seeing? I've heard good things about both tablets and I'm very interested in them. Thanks.

@Roman: I have been researching tablets for the past few months, as I just bought my daughter a $100 tablet from Amazon that is perfect for her. Now, as for myself, I had started with the Nexus 7,...

If you follow the slatedroid forum link in the OP, you'll find that there is a custom rooted ROM available. I don't have the tablet and can't vouch for the rom though. I have not bought anything...

Anyone know if there are people working on custom ROMs for it?

I've been looking for a 9.7" 4:3 tablet around this price. Too bad there's no kernel source available for this.

Why there is so much of discussion about a tablet w/o GPS and NFC? These are now standard sensors. isn't it??

I can't think of any reason I would ever even need those features on a tablet. I don't even know if my HP Touchpad has a real GPS, can't say I've ever used it if it does. I do use it on my phone,...

You're one of those people that would defend a 60" TV with 1024x768 Res, eh? Cool. Just not my thing Crisp graphics on a small screen is sexy. If you don't agree, neat. Go complain on Wikipedia.

@MODS: Hope I did not hijack this thread by talking about a different product from what the OP posted. @Roman: Thanks! I am seriously leaning towards the N101 II. I spent all day Sunday...

The unit I am testing (N101 II) actually has a black strip instead of an orange. It looks good :). I have asked my supplier about whether future units will come with orange or black or my choice and...

I think most Android tablets are 16:10 instead of 16:9. Anyway, "HD" resolution is quite nice. I play with my dad's iPad 3 whenever I pay him a visit, and that screen is super nice. However, as...

That was more dramatic, but going even from Touchpad to Sony S Tablet, you can really see the diff (both running ICS). Also, the lighter weight of Sony S makes a big diff as well. I realize the price...

I don't get it. I think he knows the definition and its usually 1280x720 min but on Android its typically 1280x800. Both my Sony s tablet and nexus 7 has "HD" resolution and it really helps when...

I hate to bring up the term 'retina'. But you don't use your touchpad 8 feet from your eyes. So yes you do need a high resolution display or else the display looks pixelly/grainy.

nope... my 65'' tv is 1080P, where it's needed. my 42'' tv is 720P, where 1080P isn't needed. my tablet, a Touchpad, is 768x1024, where 1080P really isn't needed. but hey, more power to you if...

Yes, that is one legit argument for very hi-res screens, Small print on sites gets noticeably clearer. Good point :)

yeah nexus 7 has something like 173,000 more pixels and is almost 3 inches smaller. From a Touchpad to Nexus 7 is a big difference in the sharpness of things.

completely agree. I would rather go with used one from well known company than this one. Even Acer last generation would be better than this kid of no name brand.

What processor does SONY S use? I thought it was straddled with the Tegra II ? It is Tegra II and the prices I am finding are all over $300. I am seeing $320ish but I am not searching very hard.

Between the two I would choose the N101 II. Better build quality, nicer screen, and maybe slightly better Wifi. It has newer IPS screen tech in it which means the smaller battery size isn't that big...

Why do you need NFC on a 10" tablet? Are you seriously going to pay for items by tapping a huge 1 lb+ tablet on the sensor? It makes sense on phones, not on tablets.
