You must not be hitting the = sign at the end. The 0.25 is just converting the 25 to a percentage.

Using the = sign is pretty common procedure in using calculators. Also your dollar store calculator is converting 100*2.5 to a percentage whereas the app is converting the 2.5 to a percentage before...
