I would think that canon is better if for only the manual controls and RAW shooting. The pop up flash on that canon is a hassle though. Nothing a little superglue doesn't fix.

It doesn't have a larger sensor at all. It's the exact same size sensor as the S9100. Between the two, I would go for the S9100. The L110 is a low end model. The S9100 is not.
