By performance alone, those would probably work, although I wouldn't personally recommend it. More importantly, they only have one 6-pin PCI-E connector each, and the 6870 requires two, so no.

OK, again, I really think you're giving people very very bad advice. Here's why: You say you would "always go for the higher rated capacity power supply" because it'll be more "efficient" as the...

The amazon link and the newegg link show 2 different XFX cards....Anyone else notice this or is this on purpose? EDIT..Yeah the card listed on amazon is the right card...I think, its just listed...
What I had meant was that I have been watching the 6950 VERY closely for a price drop to under 150 for the past 6 months. A 6950 2GB that can be unlocked to 6970 specs. In that time I have NOT seen...

Code shows as expired on Newegg now.

Agreed. Point of a PSU being able to go over is to have overhead in case of spikes. You never want to actually be pulling higher than your PSU is rated for. The point is that a lot of crappy PSU's...

Solid deal. I would jump on this if I really needed it. Sticking with my trusty old Sapphire HD 5850 for now. The performance increase is mostly negligible. For anyone in need of a new GPU, I...

I was thinking about getting two of these to crossfire, but I just can't seem to pull the trigger. Is anyone doing that? As far as I can tell two in crossfire still lag behind a 7950 (trying to...

That depends on your particular power supply as well as the rest of your system. If the power supply is high quality with a +12V continuous current of at least 28 amps, and the rest of your system...

Wait for a 7850 price drop to go below $200. so much more worth it. SO MUCH more. a 6870 to a 7850 would be a pretty large upgrade, assuming you overclock. at stock i think it's still a bit more...

I've noticed the prices on 6870s haven't moved much. I got two 6870s almost a year go for less than this after selling off the games. Even with newer cards out still the price hasn't been drastically...

I did not say that. I said, that I bought an equivalent card - XFX HD 6850 last year around this time for essentially the same price. So here we are a year later, and IMHO this is overpriced at this...

You put this in an HTPC? I have this card. I have an HTPC, and an Antec Fusion case for it (same formfactort as nsk2480, just a little more upscale cosmetically). I would never in a million...

Ha, I use my HTPC to game more than watch movies. So a beefy video card was necessary. However if I was going for a silent, lower power HTPC I would go with integrated graphics.

Don't go by watts. Go by amps.

Different shipping address, same billing address. I ended up cancelling the order and telling him to buy it on his own. He's never done rebates so I guess I have to do it for him.
I don't think they will get below $150. One of the big knocks on the price/performance on the 7xxx series was that they purposely stopped making 69xx's months prior to dry out supply. I had a...

should i take the bite slickdealers? I have a 4870 and it runs fine :) or should I just buy a 7 series? :P
Post #52742100 added 08-25-2012 4:39 PM by arealMESSiah in Archived Deals
If the intent is surely to CrossFire, I would only get one of these if I already had a 6870. The rebate limit is one, so your final price after rebate is like the same as a single 7950.

You got some bad bad advice in this thread. It doesn't matter if your power supply only comes with one 6 pin connector, any retail GPU should come with a 6pin adapter in the box. That isn't an issue...
