I have two Vertex 3 drives in RAID and they're fine. As long as you have the latest Intel RST drivers and the drives have the latest firmware, you'll be A-OK.

comparable speed-wise may hold a slight edge over M4 since larger capacity generally increases performance. but quality definitely tips the scales to the other drives.
