I had good luck and bad luck with refurbs. Sometimes it's indeed fixed, sometimes it's not and sometimes you get a lemon. If your are buying directly from manufacturer you mostly get fixed products....

I know a lot of people are asking questions about how this device compares to others, and I think I found a useful site: http://deviceguru.com/google-tv-vs-apple-tv-vs-boxee-vs-roku/ Seems like...

I don't have a PS3. But pandora/spotify/mog are all available on Roku. We use pandora on it quite often.

I agree that it does not. I thought Roku claimed it did, but after much screwing around, it still will not. It is nice because you can velcro it to the back of a mounted tv and still have access to...

yeah, it's pretty weak when it comes to video format compatibility. I do use PLEX to stream stuff from my computer and it seems to play just about anything that way. I use it mainly for Netflix,...

Agree with this. Choose your priority and that will choose your device. WDTV plays almost everything I throw at it. It continues to surprise me. I wish it had Roku's channels, though.

I would take my WD TV over my Roku any day. I prefer to stream from my hard drive. I dont find many internet channels that the Roku uses very appealing. Netflix and Amazon - there's a lot of...

The Plex server software (free) allows you to stream virtually anything from your hard drive to the Roku. That includes mkv, avi, and subtitles, There are an awful lot of channels available if you...

huh? that doesn't seem to make sense? you only buy large refurbed items? what does size have to do with it? why are you worried about dropping it? are you going to carry it around...

I have been a Roku owner for a few months now and the main selling point to me on the box was having the Plex app. Since I always have one computer on inter-network streaming is a much easier way to...

Dude unless your wireless router is sitting in the same room or really close in the next room, you'll have problems streaming full HD content. You won't have this problem with a wired ethernet. If...
gotcha, makes sense. my thing was more to let people understand the concept that refurbs are generally a better way to go if the warranty is there, or the new isnt long.

I'm in for one. Hopefully I have a good experience with 1saleaday. Every single refurb item I've ever bought has obviously been brand new. I hope the trend continues.

where would you keep it that you could potentially drop it on the floor? would you not just hook it up and set it down somewhere and never touch it again?

Does this play MKV files via an external hard drive connected to the USB port?
Post #52880910 added 08-31-2012 8:11 AM by Riceman1 in Archived Deals
Yes, I have this and it definitely plays MKV and MP4, but not AVI or anything else for that matter. I also have a WDTV Live Plus which plays almost anything, but has hardly any worthwhile streaming...

I don't know if that's true. Regardless, buy a smart power strip that turns off your devices when you turn off your tv. I bought one for $17 at Home Depot.

I think you'll be happy. There is actually a pretty decent amount of channels. Netflix is great for entertaining the young kids, otherwise I'd probably dump it too. Check out the Crackle channel,...

That's because it's 1saleaday - they always hide refurb from the title to lure in unsuspecting buyers.

As predicted, 1saleaday to exactly 1 week to ship my package. They also shipped the "off the menu" UPS rate of snail pace. Tracking shows a destination scan this morning, so it might arrive today....
Finally got mine a couple days ago, it is DEFECTIVE and the remote doesn't work because there's a bunch of dried up battery acid leaked into the remote control. I contacted 1saleaday.com for an...

What do the two bottoms do on the Roku 2 XS? The Roku HD has a Netflix button which seems really useful.
