Unnecessary. I power a 6970 with an i5-2500k on a 400W Antec without any problems. Even the 400W is overkill and provides plenty of cushion. System uses about 275W MAXIMUM. Your 6870 wont even hit...

Right, but some of the cards are getting more efficient, and people should be realistic about how much power they need right now. If they want to sli down the road, then I would build for one card,...

If you have to ask, most likely 500W is plenty enough for your build. If you were building a high end machine that would require more juice, than you would already know that. With that being said,...

More myth. This has been debunked by many many professionals. The era of leaky capacitors is over. Realistically there is a loss of about 5% in 5 years.

So what you're saying is the myth is true and you agree with him: PSU's lose output as they age... Last time I checked, 5% of 500 was still 25 and significant.

400W over?? That's another psu that can power up another computer! ha, but $80 isn't a bad price for a 850W. I'd rather go with a higher end Corsair 500W for that price though.
