The depth it goes into the dash is half because there is no cd player so it doesn't need the extra room. The front face is normal size tho.

On what, the stereo or the PSU? Sure, you could do this except then you have a multi-hundred watt PSU running 24x7 running a memory on a car stereo. That's kind of a sad waste of electricity.
