Same goes for XP to 7, or 95 to 98, or 3.1 to 95.
In the end usually its a benefit. Its not like 8 is out of left field its the next progression of the NTkernel that's been out since Windows NT...

Totally depends on the vendor. Sometimes you're lucky & you get the bare OS only, and it's up to you to install whatever mfr software you think you need (and you can skip all of the bloat).
