Honestly, I would just save up for either the 430EX II or the 580EX II. Even the first version of either would be better than this.

agreed. also, for those with wireless flash control (T3i, 60D, etc.), this thing can act as a slave flash remotely. it really depends on what you are using it for and how important portability is.

When you use your 430 EX II with focus assist, does it ever mis-focus? when do you know if you need to take it in for service?

A much better flash, of course. But $240-ish on Amazon? It's $269, which is the same price it is every time I look (which isn't every day, but often enough). The camel sez it hasn't been under...

I 100% agree it is better than pop-up flash. My point was that it depends on what people are trying to do with it. If you are genuinely into photography, this one is not worth it. In a few months you...

You can over-compensate the flash. Go over a half or 1 stop of the light. ;) From that you have enough room to adjust the exposure in the editing software.

No, you need a trigger, but that's a pair of two transceivers, so both work as transmitters or receivers. I have two pair of the RF-603s and they work great.
