Uh ya. It's just like saying your car is a Chevy, and needing a part. Chances are good that Brake rotors are different on a Chevy Corvette, Chevy Suburban, and Chevy Aveo. Model is important too.

Unless your player has a magical (or technical) way of installing the drivers for that USB adapter and using it properly, I don't think it'll work.

you need a usb adapter that is compatible with your player if you have an Ethernet adapter something like this could work

Ya you just need a wireless bridge as people suggest. Probably cheaper to look at a newer faster player with wifi integrated unless you can find a used/refurbished dongle on ebay or something.
