I've hooked this up via displayport to my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air, both do the full 30" display at max resolution. You do not need the dual link DVI.

If anyone has their Mac hooked up with DisplayPort to this monitor, you only get the 27" view on the display. Otherwise you have to go dual-link DVI ($100 cable). I am using a U3011 and the OS...
