Go to the Synology site and review the compatible drives list. To be 100% safe you should stick to that list...then if something goes haywire Synology can't say "well - that drive's not compatible".

As long as you aren't doing Active Directory / GPOs / etc. with the 2900, yes. A Synology box can easily handle 25 users; that's a very low load in this day and age.

Like I said, if PS3MediaServer is setup right it will demux the MKV and play it natively. When I had it setup it worked pretty well and was much faster than transcoding.
