This is the 640LE meaning limited edition not the 640M. Having a dedicated video card is one more thing to go out. They also run hotter and consume more battery.

The graphics card that comes with this Y480 series of Lenovo laptops is a different/much weaker version than the 640M LE Nvidia normally makes.

Good question, I don't think it does. Not sure why the Lenovo is even FP. Ahh...the Lenovo is 14"...but still...not feeling FP here.

this is more like it, almost double the CPU power of the laptop in the Op for $100 more, only drawback is if this model came with a iGPU instead of dGPU......

This is not a Thinkpad. Ideapad construction is absolutely horrible. Just google about all the problems.

I wish it were standard that all new laptops came with Blu-ray r/Rw drive. I can't wait for Blu-ray to be as common as DVD drives

What does that mean IBM support? from IBM? really? My opinion, but nowaday, PC(laptop) is PC, no matter which brand/type, only the price matters... that's more of a personal use attitude, not for...

what is the difference between ideapad and thinkpad? Is it possible to find one with similar specs to the Y480 here but with a better battery life?

Lenovo is IBM. I'd say this is a warm deal, but not terribly slick. For this price, I'd like to see a 1080p screen. 1600x900 would be okay since it's 14in, but I couldn't stand a 1366x768

Much better graphic card. But the Y480 comes with Windows 7 Home, while the Thinkpad comes with Professional. So a little tit 4 tat.

I'd be all over this if the keyboard had a numpad and yes, a slightly larger, higher resolution screen would be nice too.
