Why? Dimmable LEDs are out now. I got 60 watt equivalent soft white dimmable for $6 each the other day. I have read that just about ALL dimmable CFLs hum.

it looks like the "GreenLite" brand of CFL is quiet, the rest seem to make an annying "zzzzzzz" noise that is just loud enought to be annoying. However in places where noise is not a factor...

BTW: Our CFLs burn out at the same rate as our incandescent bulbs. There are reports that CFLs can and do burn out destructively and catch on fire. Every time Cosco has a sale, I pick up 20 or so...

Agreed. CFLs are on their way out. I agree so strongly bought some stock in Cree - a company that makes these LED lights. Do you have a source for decent 110V LCD lights?
