Saturate USB3.0!? USB3 is spec'd at 5 Gbit/s or 625 MB/s. Even Gig LAN is good to 100MB/s, which is still probably faster on average. Though to stream a 1080p movie you really don't need more...

would not be slower than a WD Green (you didn't mantion RS or RX) in either situation. throughput is sufficient to saturate USB 3.0 or gigabit LAN so neither case is problematic
