You will need a receiver, the speakers, and speaker cable. If you don't already have some HMDIs, you will need those as well. You can use some 16 gauge copper speaker cable.

The db rating of a speaker has nothing to do with how "sucky" a speaker is. It only tells you the sound output in decibels at a power input of 1 watt at a distance of 1 meter.

I've owned both and both are good, but I would pick the Energy 500's. With my set up the Energy had a little richer sound. On top of that the Pioneer cabinets design is rather ugly, IMO.
