I have a pair of these I bought a few years back, I use 2 Emotiva XPA-1s to drive them. For music, a subwoofer isn't required, it kicks pretty hard. With a sub, like the SVS PB-13, hard to top them...

I have monitor 70s and have no idea how they compare, but that is one incredible looking speaker. 5 woofers, yikes! Would never be able to afford them though.

Agree!!! I missed all RTI deals earlier this year before they all gone. Now I just completed my 7.1 set up with Energy RC70, v6.2. RC10, RCLCR. Damm bad timing.

I've got a Denon 4802R (weight about 50lbs) and is just barely enough to get the woofers moving on some RTi10's. Some say to pick up a 2 channel pro-amp and drive the lower half of the RTi's. They...

I have 4 Montor 70's and reading the reviews of the A9's they are unbelievable. Just signed up for a Newegg Preferred Account and bought 2 of these A9's. Put 2 of my Monitor 70's on ebay. To bad...

A pair of these cherry A9 and a pair of cherry A1's would be sweet for my living room setup, which has a cherry-colored BDI stand. The only problem is then I would have to move my 75 lb XPA2 stereo...

It is an oft overlooked perk of the Polk RTi's! The real wood veneer and finish (especially the Cherry) is very appealing. No vinyl/mdf crappity crap. This is like a piece of nice furniture.

I think I'll go get the black.. I have a 1000 or so budget for receiver and amp. I might be looking into a XPA-2, think it would be okay using that with my current receiver?

You said: So, unless the "bad advice" is your "previous research", I still stand by my last post. You will not get the most out of the speakers in this thread with a mid-tier consumer...

Most people in this thread would rather spend $400 on a receiver let alone understand the advantage of separates. For most homes, a receiver makes sense due to cost and space.

My first ever home theater system had R50's in the front. Once you spend anywhere in the next tier on up, you'll realize that the R50's sound muffled in comparison.

You are right - the amp doesn't have to cost more than the speakers. Keep in mind though what these speakers retailed for. You can power these with a quality used home 2 channel amp. Plenty of...

With that budget, you can look at the P series Yammys (P5000) or for less money, the EP series (EP2000 or EP4000) from Behringer.

Specs say 500 watts per speaker max. Does that mean 250 watts per post (there are 2 pairs of binding posts for bi-amping)?

Klipsch and Polk use different technologies... the only real way to compare is to listen yourself and see which you like better
