I have not met one person that actually uses a card slot. Everyone always prints from the computer. It is like having an optical drive on a laptop. Just dont use it anymore.

Yes, you can print text with any printer. You can't print decent photos with any printer though, that's why they are called photo printers.

The Canon site shows this comes with regular cartridges rather than starter cartridges. If that's true, this printer is $10 cheaper than the cartridges alone. Good times.
