Those are just the list prices similar to you see for other drives when not on sale. As you know, SDrs will wait for a sale to buy like they do for other drives.

"wear out faster" is TLC NAND in the non-PRO 840. The 840 PRO has 21nm MLC NAND and is faster. Repped OP for posting.

The TLC NAND has lower lifespan. The MLC NAND version has a longer lifespan. The MLC NAND version is also faster.

OCZ's have a bad failure rate (not sure about that particular drive) however, It's not only about speed, there is battery life and consumer level full disk encryption which the 830 doesn't have. ...

The 840 PRO is very fast, hence the price. Still not a hot deal though. If you really want speed, pay a little more for a Revodrive 3 x2, otherwise the Samsung 830 ($170 for 256gb) will be just fine.

I don't see him talking about speed anywhere, just questioning the endurance of the new 21 nm nand on the 840 and 840 Pro. The high endurance on the 840 Pro is due to it being MLC instead of TLC...
