My order took forever to ship and arrive. I didn't get the drive until the 12th so I couldn't send in the rebate in time. :/

Must hold..back buying and wait. Also, they seem to be 7mm from some other forum discussions, but appear thicker in the picture. I'll stick to the 830s on my waiting list until this gets verified.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 4myrebate.com is shady. I know that's not unusual for rebate processing companies but their "no-wait" option that they charge you a part of your rebate for...

in 1month, this will be the price of the 512GB SSD.. why bother now.
Post #53836268 added 10-10-2012 11:59 AM by frazell in Archived Deals
Never bite on those "no-wait" options. They are an extreme waste of your money and are only a way for the rebate company to suck more money out of you. If you read the fine print on the page they...

Yes, that's the thing with SF vs Samsung. If your using no-trim or something like whole drive encryption, SF is going to take a VERY LARGE performance hit when dealing with 100% un-compressible...

Thanks for the info. I'm not planning to do crazy things with the SSD. I don't need to encrypt the whole drive or anything like that. I'll be using the system for regular development and general use....

are these drives still affected by the 256-bit encryption issue?
Post #53824590 added 10-09-2012 10:23 PM by aznsniper911 in Archived Deals
Yes, it doesn't do 256-bit encryption and intel updated their specs to show that the 520 only does 128-bit. I'm curious, do you even need it?

You mean the 830. The 830 is the better SSD and has a much lower power consumption than this Intel 520. The only plus side I see in getting this drive is that it carries a 5yr warranty and the Sammy...
