Sounds like you need it configured as a repeater. It can do that with DD-WRT installed. I'm not sure if the stock firmware has repeater mode but I know some Cisco routers do... DD-WRT is your best...

Depends, as an access point yes but as a client no, the 2nd router would be a client of the main router like.a laptop or other device but the four ethernet ports can be connected to whatever device...
