As a GPS stand alone owner who has a unit with maps about 6 years out of date, I can emphatically say that lifetime map updates on a GPS are VERY important.

Even though I posted this deal I myself use google maps on my android cell and am very happy with it. That being said for those who would rather have a stand alone unit this is a pretty good deal.
