Kind of unrelated, but you seem to know your stuff regarding the 7970s. I own a reference card and am looking to OC it. I've read where some people have changed the BIOS to the GHz edition and OC'd...

Pretty sure you mean Celsius for those GPU temps. Other wise it would be like a refrigerator :) Thanks for the info though. I'm not worried that this thing will be noisy anymore :)

I am though very interested that claim, do you per chance have any support for that? That would definitely be a dealbreaker for me if the 670 couldn't handle 1600p. I'm just taking a look at the...

Pool mining like with other people? Wouldn't the coins be split so you would gain nothing or possibly be on the losing end of the deal?

Please provide proof or a credible reference that would back up your claims instead of speculation. Many would rather see relevant data that backs your response instead of noisy chatter.

A 7870 is a good card equivalent to a 580 you can get them on sale for around 200$ after MIR. Or get a 7950 if you have the extra money.

I'm at 1920x1080 as well. Is it overkill for some games? No doubt. But like you said, in other games like BF3, this much power is needed if you want to maintain 60fps with all the goodies turned on....

I have the Gigabyte WF3 GTX670. It is an excellent card. Very quiet, excellent temps, and overclocks well. I highly recommend it if you decide to go with a 670.

GHZ edition 7970s now approximate gtx 680 levels of performance on BF3 due to driver updates, etc. You can basically tie (not sure a human being could notice the dif. in performance) a GTX 680 on BF3...

Wait, so the GHz edition is just a gimmick? If you're going to OC the card then the non-GHz is actually better? Would that Diamond 7970, that went for $312, be just as good?

Both are fine, and perform similarly. Look at the games you wish to play, and pick according to that. With this you also don't have to wait for a rebate, if that matters, or you could save even...

You did the right choice. 7970 is the crown for this generation's single core race. It's cheaper, OCs better, and has an advantage over a larger amount of games. However, games that are nV...

Either will be ideal for high-end 1080P gaming. The Visiontek will generally be faster. The Gigabyte will be a LOT quieter.
