Onkyo receivers tend to run hot. Make sure it's well ventilated. If necessary point a fan at it, if the music is that loud you won't hear the fan anyway.

Yes, you will need a sub. These won't sound good with nothing on the low end. For 7.1 you would need a 7.1 capable receiver, 2 more speakers than this set offers and a sub.:confused:
