You can use the Recruit a Friend and link two accounts to a single battle.net email address; however, you can't use a Monk unless you upgrade all the way to MOP.

I just noticed that the World of Warcraft Battle Chest just went back on sale for $5.00. Unfortunately, none of the expansions have dropped significantly so you would need to pick them up elsewhere...

FYI...I just noticed after logging in for the first time that you can purchase both Cataclysm and MoP for $39.00 which definately saves you some $$$.
