It's not glue, although from the way some thermal compounds stick, it could be mistaken. Anyway, this stuff doesn't seem to be as stick much after a while.

wrong, check benchmarks, better thermal compound helps temps. Do a quick google, you'll see 1-5 C temp drops with better thermal compound.
