The D5100 autofocuses in video mode, T3i doesn't. The feature was added to the T4i. I didn't know this before buying the T3i and it's been an annoyance.

it's a safety net, but once you get the hang of changing the 3 primary settings it doesn't really matter anymore. that's why you don't see many canon people complaining about not having that feature.
