Negative. This is just an extremely slow hard drive, even by laptop standards. Having owned both drives I can tell you the 500gb momentus xt is extremely fast by comparison.

Yeah, that's how I'm doing it. I mean, it makes sense since your main bay is (most likely) SATA III and your SSD will be better able to reach full speed that way.
