I have the Astro 3 and it charges my Nexus 7 without a problem. Not sure what the difference is between the 3 and 3e.

The 3E is for smartphones and tablets. The 3 is for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and basically anything that can take a 5/9/12VDC input.

There seems to be a few differences. The Astro3 comes with the ability to output DC at 9v/12v. The Astro3e does not. The Astro3e can pump out 3A rather than 2A. The Astro3 comes with a 1A wall...

Despite the deal I personally got myself an Astro3 before I head on vacation. I figured the difference in price didn't warrant the loss in flexibility.

It just worked for me on all of the adapters that said prime, the one that didn't have a prime option failed (usb 3 female to usb 2a mini male).
